Protesters in Santa Monica were repressed by the GNB

The Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) threw tear gas bombs at a group of opposition protesters gathered in Santa Mónica, and prevented them from gathering in nearby areas.

Hasler Iglesias expressed that at least one hundred people had arrived to the gathering place and they were dispersed, despite not blocking the street. In the same manner, he recommended everyone headed towards Santa Mónica to go to Altamira instead, because the GNB and the National Police (PNB) had dispersed the gathering there.

Representative Dinorah Figuera pointed out that she was at the gathering place and that she attempted to mediate with the security officers, but they threw multiple tear gas bombs, and that in the gathering there were elderly people and that they were protesting peacefully.

Around noon, the security officers retreated, and the presence of ‘masked people’ was evident.
